Pete Carroll makes Raiders practice plans clear

The Las Vegas Raiders head into Week Three against the Washington Commanders unsure of who is going to be facing them.

Commanders quarterback Jayden Daniels suffered a sprained knee in their previous game against the Green Bay Packers, putting his status against the Raiders in question. While the injury is not serious and rehab appears to be going well, Commanders head coach Dan Quinn has already said that Daniels is not expected to return to practice until Friday, at the earliest. If the quarterback is not ready to go by then, they will turn to Marcus Mariota against the Raiders.

Despite the uncertainty out of their opponent, the Raiders are moving forward with a clear idea in mind.

The Raiders are expecting that Daniels will play on Sunday.

During his media availability on Wednesday, Carroll made it clear that the Raiders are preparing as if Daniels will be starting.

“We have to prepare for him playing. The bet is probably that he will. They might not practice him until later in the week, but we’re going to count on him going,” Carroll said.

It makes sense for Carroll to prepare to face against a quarterback as dynamic as Daniels is, but he also stressed that the team is preparing for Mariota in a smaller capacity, as well.

“We have a lot of background about Marcus on the staff so we know what his capabilities are, we think, so we’re preparing for both guys, but primarily for Jayden,” Carroll said.

Both the Commnders and Raiders are coming off of tough losses to what are likely playoff contenders in the Packers and Los Angeles Chargers, respectively, so they head into Sunday’s game eager to get back in the win column.
