Pete Carroll shocked with how Seahawks defense played in loss to Bills

The Seattle Seahawks defense was hideous on Sunday against the Buffalo Bills, making quarterback Josh Allen look superhuman in the process.

After seeing his defense give up 44 points and 420 yards, Seahawks head coach Pete Carroll revealed he couldn't comprehend what Allen and the Bills offense did to his defense.

“I don’t recognize that game. We haven’t seen us look like that. It’s a game that I don’t have any place in my brain for it,” Carroll said, per the Seattle Times. “They made it look easy.”

It's interesting to hear Carroll say his defense hasn't looked like that all season. The New England Patriots, who rank last in the NFL in passing yards, carved up the Seattle defense during Week 2 with Cam Newton completing 30-of-44 passes for 397 yards. Although the Seahawks walked away with a 35-30 win, the defense, again, wasn't great.

Seattle's defense has allowed the most passing yards in the NFL (2,897) and the most first downs (151). Every opponent but one has put up 25-plus points against the Seahawks, which isn't ideal for a team whose offense has been putting up points consistently but can't continuously keep bailing out the defense.

Carroll's defense can't really get much worse, and the Seahawks have plenty of work to do ahead of their next matchup against the Los Angeles Rams.
