Petition Started For The NFL To Investigate The Kansas City Chiefs

Over the past few weekends (and really throughout the 2024 NFL season) the Kansas City Chiefs have benefitted greatly from a number of very favorable calls from the referees.

Well, after the Chiefs' latest AFC Championship Game win, which many believe was rigged over a controversial spot on a 4th-down rushing play, some NFL fans are ready to sign an entire petition to compel a change.

A petition on Change.org is going viral entitled "Boycott NFL Games Until Adequate Officiating Fairness Measures Are Implemented." But that wasn't the original title of the petition. Originally, it was titled, "Encourage the NFL to investigate the officiation of Kansas City Cheif's games."

For starters, the original author of the petition spelled "Chiefs" wrong, and even added an unnecessary apostrophe. So it's hard to take it seriously in the first place.

Case in point, Philadelphia's mayor got ripped for a week for botching the Eagles' "E-A-G-L-E-S Eagles!" chant during a speech prior to the team's NFC Championship win. If you want people to think you're serious, don't make unserious spelling errors.

Even if such an investigation were to be launched, who would launch it? The NFL would probably investigate themselves and finish with the predictable response of "We have investigated ourselves and found no wrongdoing."

But the NFL would never do such an investigation in the first place. The NFL Referees Association has no shortage of power thanks in no small part to the backlash that the league received from the referees' strike in 2012. There hasn't been so much as a scuttlebutt over the last couple of collective bargaining agreements they've signed.

Fans have already been priming themselves for some officiating that will favor the Chiefs in Super Bowl 59, noting that Super Bowl referee Ron Torbert has previously made calls to benefit the Chiefs.

It's not going to end until the Chiefs stop winning big games.
