Green Bay Packers news: Jordan Love had an eye-opening performance in his preseason debut for the Green Bay Packers. The 24-year-old helped lead the charge for his team as they took down the Cincinnati Bengals on Friday in a dominant 36-19 blowout win.

Love received some high praise from Bengals linebacker Germaine Pratt, who admitted that he did see shades of Aaron Rodgers in the young quarterback. Pratts’ Cincinnati teammate, Trevor Siemian, also had nothing but good things to say about Love. The veteran QB also decided to drop some sage advi ce on his younger counterpart ahead of what will be the biggest year of Jordan Love’s fledgling career.

Jordan Love gets sound advice from Trevor Siemian

Speaking after the Bengals’ disappointing loss against Love and the Packers, Siemian looked back at his own journey in the NFL. The one-time Super Bowl champ reflected on his time with the Denver Broncos when he too had to face the pressure of being the heir of an all-time great quarterback:

“Obviously it was a long time ago, but it was easy for me,” said Siemian, via Rob Demovsky of ESPN. “I wasn’t trying to be Peyton Manning; I had no shot at doing that. I was fortunate to be around some really good coaches and a good team. So for me, it was easy. I wasn’t trying to be Peyton.”

Siemian, who served as the Broncos’ QB1 for a season and a half in the immediate aftermath of Peyton Manning’s retirement in 2015, then turned his attention to Love. Siemian’s best piece of advice for the Packers quarterback is to try and blaze his own path:

“Don’t try to be Aaron,” Siemian said. “Be Jordan. Be the best version of Jordan he can be. It seems like he’s doing that. I haven’t paid attention much but heard good things. I’m pulling for him.”

The advice may have been somewhat unsolicited, but the fact of the matter is that this is some pretty solid counsel from a man who has been through this exact same situation in the past. As Siemian said, however, Love appears to be on the right track already.
