With the first big wave of NFL free agency in the rear view mirror, Pro Football Focus took a look at each franchise's biggest remaining needs ahead of the 2024 NFL Draft.
When it comes to the Buffalo Bills, PFF thinks the team could still use some help at safety, center, and wide receiver.
From PFF: Jordan Poyer and Micah Hyde were both cut in cost-saving moves, which leaves Taylor Rapp as the Bills’ only safety who saw significant action last season. Poyer is now a Miami Dolphin, while Hyde’s status is still up in the air. Buffalo could bolster the safety position early in the draft.
The Bills lost longtime center Mitch Morse, and while they signed veteran Will Clapp, he’s much better suited for a backup role. They need to find a foundational piece at the pivot. Curtis Samuel was an underrated signing at wide receiver, but Buffalo could use one more weapon, preferably with some size, to round out that group.
The Bills will likely address one of those needs with their first selection in the draft later this month.
Buffalo has the No. 28 overall selection in the draft and several recent mock drafts have the Bills targeting a wide receiver in the first round.
ESPN's Matt Miller, for example, has Buffalo selecting Texas Longhorns wide receiver Adonai Mitchell with the No. 28 overall pick.
Mitchell is a big receiver (6-foot-3) who runs a 4.33 in the 40-yard dash. He has WR1 potential, so he could be a steal late in the first round (if he makes it that far).
Duke center Graham Barton could also be an option for the Bills in the first round if they prefer to wait on a wide receiver until later in the draft (depending on who's available late in the first round).
The Bills can also still address their biggest remaining needs by signing second-tier and third-tier free agents to fill out their depth chart.
