Philadelphia Eagles fire OC Kevin Patullo after playoff exit

The Philadelphia Eagles fired offensive coordinator Kevin Patullo following their playoff exit against the San Francisco 49ers. Head coach Nick Sirianni released a statement Tuesday.

“I have decided to make a change at offensive coordinator,” Sirianni said in a statement regarding Patullo. “I met with Kevin today to discuss the difficult decision, as he is a great coach who has my utmost respect. He has been integral to this team’s success over the last five years, not only to the on-field product but behind the scenes as a valued leader for our players and organization.

“I have no doubt he will continue to have a successful coaching career. Ultimately, when we fall short of our goals, that responsibility lies on my shoulders.”

NFL Network’s Mike Garafolo provided intriguing context to the move though. While Patullo is no longer the offensive coordinator, it’s not guaranteed he is completely out of Philly.

“The phrasing is important here and in the Eagles’ statement,” Garafolo wrote. “Kevin Patullo is not fired. There’s a chance he could remain on Nick Sirianni’s coaching staff, sources say. Patullo took heat as offensive coordinator this year, but he’s been an integral part of the team’s success in the Sirianni era, serving last season as assistant head coach. The fact he wasn’t fired and could return shows the Eagles value him. Still some talks to be had though.”

Interestingly, the Eagles’ official website pushed out the press release and an intriguing opening statement. It read: “The Eagles announced on Tuesday in a statement released by Head Coach Nick Sirianni that they have parted ways with Offensive Coordinator Kevin Patullo.”

The Eagles finished the 2025 season 11-6 as NFC East champions in their bid to repeat as Super Bowl champions. However, offensive regression was the story of the season, despite a stout defense.

With a 13-10 halftime lead over the 49ers, the Eagles were outscored 13-9 in the second half, managing just field goals despite good field position and even a red zone opportunity on the final drive.

Now that Eagles have moved on from Patullo, the new OC will have a loaded offense featuring Jalen Hurts, Barkley, AJ BrownDeVonta Smith and Dallas Goedert, as of now. It remains to be seen who they will target, considering ESPN’s Adam Schefter recently reported Philadelphia could look for an OC with more experience than recent history.

Patullo was with the Eagles under Sirianni sine 2021 as the pass game coordinator. He was also the associate head coach in ’23 and ’24, helping the team win Super Bowl LIX last year.

Following the departure of OC Kellen Moore, who just wrapped up his first season as New Orleans Saints head coach, Patullo was promoted internally to offensive coordinator. A former QB and WR at USF, Patullo began his coaching career at his alma mater in 2003.

He had a variety of roles as a GA and assistant coach with Arizona, the Kansas City Chiefs, Buffalo Bills, Tennessee Titans, New York Jets, Texas A&M, Indianapolis Colts and Eagles.
