The Philadelphia Eagles will get back to work this month as they kick off their offseason training program.
There are three different phases of the NFL offseason program that last nine weeks and are broken down into key dates throughout the spring and summer months.
Here are the workout dates for the Eagles:
First day: April 21
OTAs: May 27-28, May 30, June 2-3, June 5
Mandatory minicamp: June 10
Phas one for Philly will start on April 21. During that time, there will be strength and conditioning workouts and meetings held for those players who choose to attend.
Phase one:
Consists of the first two weeks of the program with activities limited to meetings, strength and conditioning, and physical rehabilitation only.
Phase Two:
Consists of the next three weeks of the program. On-field workouts may include individual or group instruction and drills, as well as "perfect play drills," and drills and plays with offensive players lining up across from offensive players and defensive players lining up across from defensive players, conducted at a walk-through pace. No live contact or team offense vs. team defense drills are permitted.
Phase Three:
Consists of the next four weeks of the program. Teams may conduct a total of 10 days of organized team practice activity, or "OTAs". No live contact is permitted, but 7-on-7, 9-on-7, and 11-on-11 drills are permitted.
The Eagles changed up their offseason program last spring and gave their players a much heavier workload. They went from having six to seven total voluntary OTAs and added a mandatory minicamp.
This all came after a devastating ending to their 2023 NFL season.
The offseason is so important for not just working out and getting into great shape but also for building team chemistry and closer bonds, and one could tell that simple changes like this one made a huge and positive impact on the Eagles in 2024.
