Adam Schefter’s latest update has kept AJ Brown trade speculation alive, with the Philadelphia Eagles yet to shut down the conversation.
Trade rumors rarely survive without resistance, especially when they involve a player of AJ Brown’s caliber.
But in this case, the silence from Philadelphia, and the measured responses elsewhere, are doing the opposite, allowing the story to gather momentum instead of shutting it down.
In a recent segment shared via ESPN NFL, Adam Schefter highlighted how both teams have handled the situation without closing the door on a move.
“We haven’t heard the Eagles come out and say, ‘We’re not trading A.J. Brown,'” Schefter said. “We have yet to hear the New England Patriots when AJ Brown’s name comes up other than say, ‘We keep doors open, we respect the player, can’t talk about other players, but here’s a player who’s been great around the league.'”
That lack of a firm denial stands out. Teams usually move quickly to eliminate noise when there is no real discussion behind it.
Instead, Philadelphia’s approach has left just enough uncertainty for speculation to remain credible.
Schefter further explained why Brown’s situation with the Eagles continues to hold attention.
“And so both sides continue to give this story oxygen whenever they are given the opportunity. It hasn’t gone away, it’s still sitting out there, it’ll be sitting out there for a while right now,” he continued.
Schefter concluded, stating, “I do not expect anything here in the next couple of weeks. But again, AJ Brown to the Patriots still remains a possibility.”
The timeline removes urgency, but not relevance. There may be no immediate move, yet the possibility remains active. That combination is enough to keep the conversation alive across the league.
Until the Eagles take a definitive stance, the absence of clarity will continue to fuel the discussion around AJ Brown’s future.
