The Pittsburgh Steelers are facing an interesting situation at quarterback this offseason. Russell Wilson and Justin Fields are each set to enter free agency, leaving the Steelers with several potential options.
Fields and Wilson started last season, and led the team to the playoffs after being cast away from their previous teams. That performance likely earned more consideration from other teams around the league, and it could make it harder to bring them both back for 2025.
One radio host says he's heard that the Steelers have explored at least one option outside of their current quarterback room for free agency this year.
“Source: There’s interest in former Giants QB Daniel Jones inside the Steelers organization,” said Andrew Fillipponi of Pittsburgh's 93.7 The Fan.
"Quote: “[The Steelers] could do a lot worse than Jones.” With the belief he actually is a good fit for Arthur Smith’s offense. And Mike Tomlin’s preference for a mobile quarterback."

Jones would be another reclamation project for the Steelers, but he enters in a much different situation than Wilson or Fields. Wilson is nearing the end of his career, looking to prove that he's still among the best in the league.
Fields is a younger player simply trying to find his footing in the league after a difficult start to his career amid high expectations in Chicago.
Jones lies somewhere in the middle as a veteran in the mid-point of his career. He's shown that he can lead a team to the playoffs under the right conditions, but most of his career has been plagued by injury and inconsistency.
Wilson and Fields were able to revive their careers with Mike Tomlin and Arthur Smith last season, and it appears that the team believes the same can be done for Daniel Jones.
Jones was the No. 6 pick in the 2019 draft out of Duke. He led the Giants to their first playoff berth in six seasons back in 2022, and signed a four-year, $160 million extension before the following season.
After tearing his ACL in 2023 and being benched in 2024, the Giants cut Jones late last November. He finished the season with the Minnesota Vikings, the same team that he defeated in the 2022 season's playoffs.
We'll see if Jones finds his way to Pittsburgh after the end of his time with the Giants last season.
