Possible replacement emerges for Ryan Clark at ESPN

ESPN may be moving quickly to replace the fired Ryan Clark.

Retired Pro Football Hall of Famer Kurt Warner is a candidate to succeed Clark at ESPN, Bobby Burack of OutKick reported on Tuesday. Burack notes that Warner is a potential option to replace Clark on “Monday Night Football.”

Warner, now 55 years old, is a two-time NFL MVP and a one-time Super Bowl MVP who played in the league as a quarterback from 1998-2009. He announced his retirement from the NFL in early 2010 and quickly went into a career as an analyst.

Following stops at NFL Network, FOX Sports, and Westwood One, Warner now serves as the lead radio analyst on “Monday Night Football” for ESPN. Burack notes that Warner could remain in that role while also doing television pregame segments before a certain time to fill for Clark’s old role.

Clark, 46, was fired by ESPN earlier this week after serving as an NFL analyst for them since 2015. He apparently learned of his dismissal while live on TV Monday morning.

There is a lot of musical chairs going on at The Worldwide Leader right now as several other prominent on-air names have also since been let go. Now it appears that ESPN could opt to replace Clark by simply having Warner double-dip on “Monday Night Football” duties.
