Post-waiver wire fantasy football pickups for Week 2

Did the fantasy waiver wire show you no (Jordan) Love? Did you miss the Gus (Edwards) Bus? Don’t worry. These post-waiver pick-ups could be perfect for your Week 2 fantasy roster.

QB: Mac Jones (New England Patriots)

He may be the most unexciting quarterback in football, but last week Jones threw for 316 yards and three touchdowns against an Eagles defense that allowed the second-fewest yards per game in 2022.

Jones had 54 passes last week, more than any other quarterback. This week he’ll try to keep pace with a Miami offense that led the league with 536 total yards in Week 1. Jones is still available in 90% of Yahoo! leagues. He won’t beat the Dolphins, but he should put up good numbers.

RB: Zack Moss (Indianapolis Colts)

Deon Johnson ran for 14 yards on 13 carries in relief of Jonathan Taylor last week. Jake Funk and Ethan Hull combined for another 11 yards, and Hull just landed on the IR. Moss missed the first game with an arm injury but was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice.

The Colts travel to Houston this week to face a Texans team that gave up the most rushing yards in the NFL last year and 10th-most against the Jaguars last week. Moss is only rostered in 15% of Yahoo! leagues. Keep an eye on the injury report, but if he can go, he should be on your roster.

WR: Josh Reynolds (Detroit Lions)

Reynolds is no Amon-Ra St. Brown, but he did outpace the Pro Bowl receiver with four catches for 80 yards against the Chiefs.  With Jameson Williams suspended for six games, Reynolds should see lots of targets to start the season.

The veteran receiver spent four years catching passes from quarterback Jared Goff when both were with the Rams. Reynolds had 113 catches for 1,450 yards and nine scores with L.A. and obviously has good chemistry with Goff. He should see plenty of targets against a Seahawks team that gave up the second-most passing yards last week.

TE: Hunter Henry (New England Patriots)

Once again, New England will have to throw the ball if they hope to keep up with the Dolphins in Week 2. Henry led the Patriots with six targets last week and caught a nine-yard touchdown pass against Philadelphia. Henry led all tight ends with 16.6 points last week and he’s still available in over 40% of Yahoo! leagues.

DST: Arizona Cardinals

Even in a loss, the Cardinals defense had six sacks, two fumble recoveries, an interception and a score against the Commanders last week. This week they’re available in 96% of Yahoo! leagues and face a New York Giants team that gave up 37 fantasy points to the Cowboys defense on Sunday night.

Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon isn’t much of a motivational speaker, but he did have the league’s second-best defense in Philadelphia last year.

K: Jake Moody (San Francisco 49ers)

The Niners used a third-round pick to get the former Wolverine, so don’t be shy about putting a rookie kicker in your lineup. Moody tied for the third-most fantasy points among kickers last week and should get lots of work against the Rams on Sunday.
