Potential trade partner for Raiders quarterback becoming clear

Suddenly, trade rumors have begun to swirl over the Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback room.

During Thursday’s preseason game against the Seattle Seahawks, Aidan O’Connell was soundly outperformed by sixth-round rookie Cam Miller. One game is not enough to change the entire complexion of the position, but Miller suddenly has built himself a case to back up Geno Smith. If things continue to go the way they have, there is a real possibility that the Raiders decide to flip O’Connell for extra draft capital.

In that scenario, one team is already making sense as a landing spot.

O’Connell could head to a rebuilding AFC team in the event that he gets traded.

With the first slate of preseason games finished, analysts saw that the Tennessee Titans could be in the market for a backup quarterback.

The season-ending injury to Will Levis has put the Titans in need of a backup behind first overall pick Cam Ward. Unfortunately, their Saturday matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers suggested that their best bet is not currently in the organization. Neither Brandon Allen or Tim Boyle impressed in their auditions for the role, combining to throw for three interceptions.

That alone makes O’Connell appealing, but Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton made some connections between the Titans and the third-year quarterback.

Between the connections and the fact the Titans just watched their best options struggle as badly as they did, making a move for O’Connell makes sense if the Raiders are open to the idea of a trade.
