The Seahawks have had as busy of an offseason as any team in the NFL.
Quarterback Sam Darnold, wide receivers Cooper Kupp and Marquez Valdes-Scantling, guard Grey Zabel, and tight end Elijah Arroyo will help form a new-look offense for Seattle. It also reinforced the defensive side of the ball by acquiring edge rusher Demarcus Lawrence and safety Nick Emmanwori.
The folks over at Pro Football Focus believe there is one more move that general manager John Schneider can make to round out his roster, which is to sign recently released wide receiver Gabe Davis.
From PFF: "With Jaxon Smith-Njigba, Cooper Kupp and newly drafted Elijah Arroyo, the Seahawks' offense has a variety of flavors at slot receiver. Where this offense feels limited is on the outside, where Marquez Valdes-Scantling stands as the lone proven option. It would be a prudent move for Seattle to target another outside receiving threat for the rotation, and recently released Gabe Davis may provide that answer. Although he struggled in 2024 with Jacksonville, Davis charted in the 82nd percentile in PFF receiving grade over his four seasons in Buffalo."
Davis struggled to get going with the Jaguars in 2024, but to be fair, Jacksonville's offense was a mess in general. A torn meniscus that he suffered in Week 11 cost him the rest of the season, so the first bit of business for Seattle would be checking into his health status. If Davis is good to go, it's reasonable to believe he could get back to the form he had during the first four years of his career with the Buffalo Bills.
Still just 26 years old, who Davis is a prototypical X WR who makes physically contested catches and is a downfield threat. He averaged an impressive 16.7 yards per catch and caught a total of 27 touchdowns during his time with the Bills. Davis would provide solid depth within the Seahawks' WR corps and would be another big-play weapon for Darnold.
