Promising Raider latest to suffer season-ending injury

Injuries continue to wreck the Las Vegas Raiders on both sides of the ball, and Monday’s game against Atlanta saw another key player go down.

Just days after it was announced that defensive end Maxx Crosby was lost for the season due to his nagging ankle injury, running back Sincere McCormick announced that the ankle injury that lead to him leaving the game against the Falcons early would keep him on the shelf for the rest of the year.

“Hey, y’all, just want to give a shoutout to everybody who kept me in their prayers,” McCormick said on his Instagram. “But (the injury) is nothing too crazy, though. So, honestly, I’ll be back next season. I’m not even really tripping about it. I’ll be back better than ever.”

McCormick’s injury is the latest in a season-long string of injury woes for the Raiders, who have already lost running back Zamir White to a quadriceps injury.

A former standout at the University of Texas-San Antonio, McCormick was on the Raiders’ practice squad this season until injuries to White and Alexander Mattison forced the team to sign him to the active roster in November. He quickly became the most effective running back the Raiders had all season, putting up 183 yards on only 39 carries.

McCormick is still under contract for 2025, and he will find himself in a running back room in a state of flux. Mattison will be a free agent, and White was a colossal disappointment in his third year. If McCormick’s recovery is on schedule, he would currently be the starting running back for the Raiders in 2025, barring a free agency or draft move.

The injury is a disappointing end to one of the few bright spots for the Raiders this season. Hopefully, McCormick will be healthy and ready to produce next season.
