Quinnen Williams agrees to 3-year extension with Cowboys

What This Means

They are getting these deals done, and that is a good thing, but now the question is, can they now get something done with George Pickens next offseason? It would look like he should be the next guy in line.

As I noted last week, this is the number that I thought Williams would land at or just around.

By comparison, Kansas City Chiefs star Chris Jones is the highest-paid interior defensive lineman in the NFL with his deal that is worth just shy of $159 million.

Only Jones and Philadelphia Eagles defensive lineman Jalen Carter will be earning more than Williams, whose deal just narrowly topped the one held by Jeffery Simmons in Tennessee.

If he waited this out one more year, he would have had a lot more room to make even more money, but let’s be happy that a big-time player wants to remain in Dallas and focus on trying to win football games.

We get so caught up in Dallas overpaying for guys, but nobody will say anything good about this deal, because this is an AWESOME deal for both sides.

I think this is a great number for Williams. He has been good and will be for the next handful of years for Dallas, but the Cowboys were able to get him done with a deal that did not reset the market, which is something that they normally do when signing guys like this.

Williams has been an All-Pro twice and with how good the defensive line has come along since the Micah Parsons deal, I would expect him to get back to that level of play, but the NFC has a lot of good names that will be in line to make that list, and they only have so many spots.

The Cowboys will have a scrimmage tomorrow against the Los Angeles Rams at their place, so that will be something to keep an eye on. Williams should have a pep in his step after signing this deal with Dallas.

He has made it known that during his time with the Jets, he has never sniffed of making the playoffs, and let’s be real here, this is clearly the best team he has ever been on, and Dallas should make the playoffs.

What happens after that remains a mystery.

Either way, I am glad about the way that this front office has been moving this offseason. They kept the drama out of it for the first time, maybe since I have been alive with is 30 years on the nose!

The first game of the season will be here before we know it, and what a great time for any possible issues to be out the window and the guys that want to be in Dallas are there getting work in and showing up, and the media hates it!

I am really liking how they are buying into what is going on inside the building now, this is not how they normally operate.
