Terry McLaurin's camp is starting to come under increasing scrutiny for the way they've handled what's becoming a bitter contract standoff with the Washington Commanders. And one radio host with close ties to the team believes patience is running thin within the building.

McLaurin is off the physically unable to perform list, but he's reportedly ramping up his conditioning before rejoining his teammates. Fans remain skeptical he'll get back involved without a new deal, especially considering the extortionate demands agent Buddy Baker wants on the deal.

Nicki Jhabvala from The Athletic revealed that McLaurin wants a higher average annual salary than D.K. Metcalf, despite being older. This would place him in the top four among all receivers around the league, which saw any sympathy almost completely evaporate among sections of the fan base.

Radio host believes Commanders could take Terry McLaurin's extension off the table

Kevin Sheehan from The Team 980, citing various conversations with sources over the last week, believes the Commanders are rapidly approaching the breaking point. He thought there was a real chance of Peters rescinding the extension offer, and he placed the blame squarely on the shoulders of Baker.

I think the team is reaching, kind of, a breaking point. I think they have had it with Team Terry. And if Team Terry doesn't get a clue and get a sense of reality soon, they're going to leave $50 million on the table. When that gets left and it's pulled and is no longer an option, I will certainly, in that moment, think that Terry made a massive mistake by listening to his agent and by not taking control of the situation as the player. He's the customer in that relationship. He does not have to do what his agent tells him to if he strongly disagrees.Kevin Sheehan

McLaurin is paying a lot to have experienced, professional counsel in pursuit of what will be his last major NFL contract. But not all advice is good advice.

The Commanders reportedly balked at the initial demands so much that Peters threatened to call off discussions immediately. He's not going to pay $34 million per season or more for someone who'll be 31 years old when the extension begins. There's been no coming down from McLaurin's side, so it's not hard to see why Washington is becoming tired of the lack of progress.

Taking the offer from the table is extremely drastic. The Commanders would then be forced to make McLauerin play out the final year of his deal or seek trade offers to extract maximum value. Neither is ideal, but unless some harsh truths are realized by the player's camp, these situations are getting more realistic with every passing day.

Tensions are rising. Frustrations are growing for everyone involved. And it's starting to look like the point of no return is on the immediate horizon.
