Raiders Announce Brock Bowers Update Before Colts Game

Brock Bowers has been one of the few bright spots on a struggling Las Vegas Raiders team. After starting 1-3, they seem destined to miss the playoffs for the fourth straight season.

The offense has been a big reason for the lack of success. Through four games, the Raiders rank 18th in total yards per game (329.5) and 24th in points per game (19.3).

Bowers has been far from the problem, though, racking up 19 receptions and 225 yards on 27 targets. The only blemish that can be easily pointed out is that the tight end has yet to score a touchdown.

However, his availability to play in Week 5 against the Indianapolis Colts has been unclear. Bowers was limited during Wednesday's practice and didn't participate at all on Thursday due to a knee injury.

Pete Carroll Announces Brock Bowers Update

For as much as the Raiders' offense has struggled, losing out on their star tight end would be a huge loss.

Luckily, though, on Friday, while speaking to reporters, head coach Pete Carroll said, “We think he’s playing, but we wanted to make sure and rest him," according to Nick Walters of KTNV.

To start the 2025 season, Bowers has earned a Pro Football Focus overall grade of 75.2, which is the second-highest of any tight end.

He's been exactly as advertised for the Raiders, who selected him with the No. 13 pick in the 2024 NFL Draft after a collegiate career with the Georgia Bulldogs. In his rookie season, he earned First-Team All-Pro honors and was selected to the Pro Bowl.

If the Raiders were to play without Bowers, it'd be a significant downgrade to 2023 second-round pick Michael Mayer. Through three games, he's racked up just six receptions for 47 yards.

Luckily for quarterback Geno Smith, though, his second-most targeted pass catcher throughout the 2025 season will be good to go.

Kickoff between the Raiders and Colts is scheduled for 1 p.m. ET at Lucas Oil Stadium, airing on FOX.
