Raiders announce roster moves prior to Falcons game

The Las Vegas Raiders have been busy over the past couple of days.

The Raiders received some excellent news on the injury front in regards to quarterback Aidan O’Connell on Monday, when further tests on his left knee revealed that he had only suffered a bone bruise. O’Connell was injured in the third quarter of Sunday’s game against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and the initial belief was that the injury would end his season. If that were the case, an already-thin quarterback room would be even more so.

While the Raiders lucked out in this case, they are not taking any chances.

On Tuesday, the Raiders announced that they were signing quarterback Carter Bradley from their practice squad to the active roster. The undrafted free agent will likely serve as the emergency third quarterback behind O’Connell and Desmond Ridder, at least for now.

Bradley joined the Raiders this season from the University of South Alabama after going undrafted. He made appearances in all three of the Raiders’ preseason games, throwing for 225 total yards and a touchdown.

To make room on the roster for Bradley, the Raiders have placed running back Zamir White on injured reserve with a quadricep injury, effectively ending his season. White was one of the more disappointing Raiders this season, rushing for 183 yards and a touchdown on 65 carries across eight games.

The Raiders also made moves on their practice squad, signing quarterback Jake Luton and defensive tackle Tyler Manoa and released defensive tackle Marquan McCall. Luton was a sixth-round pick of the Jacksonville Jaguars in 2020 who was last with the Carolina Panthers, while University of Arizona product Manoa was last with the Arizona Cardinals on their practice squad.

It would take a disastrous outcome for Bradley to see the field, but the Raiders at least have the option if O’Connell aggravates his injury.
