Former NFL QB Dan Orlovsky recently stirred the pot by claiming that Ty Simpson was the best quarterback in the 2026 class.
Orlovsky argued that Simpson made more "NFL throws" and played in bigger games than Fernando Mendoza, the projected No. 1 pick who led Indiana to an undefeated season and the program's first national championship.
Of course, that led to plenty of backlash and back-and-forth, with fans debating the take.
That's why Las Vegas Raiders running back Ashton Jeanty chimed in and shared his two cents on this story. During a streaming session, the second-year running back had a hilarious response to the question.
“Who do I think is better: Mendoza or Ty Simpson? Whoever we draft at quarterback is better,” the Boise State star said in his livestream (h/t MLFootball).
Barring a shocking turn of events, the Raiders will take Mendoza with the No. 1 pick, and it has never been a debate. Mendoza has been the consensus No. 1 prospect for months now.
Simpson, on the other hand, has seen his draft stock rise drastically over the past couple of weeks, and he's almost certainly going to be taken in the first round now.
Of course, it's still way too early to tell who'll have the best career. A lot can go sideways in a player's development, and some things just cannot be measured.
