When training camp got started, Jakorian Bennett looked like a safe bet to grab one of the starting cornerback spots.
Coming off of a strong 2024, Bennett was emerging as a potential building block on defense. However, the change in coaching staff turned out to negatively affect Bennett, who did not fit new head coach Pete Carroll’s scheme and ended up getting lost in the shuffle. Ultimately, the Raiders decided to trade him to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for defensive lineman Thomas Booker IV.
It has only take a couple of preseason games for Bennett to find his footing with his new team.
In his preseason with the Eagles, Bennett put up a startling 86.2 grade from Pro Football Focus, becoming a major contributor to his new team early on.
Jakorian Bennet this preseason for the #Eagles:
86.2 PFF coverage grade
8 targets
5 catches allowed
37 passing yards allowed
2 PBUs
73.4 passer rating allowed

Bennett now appears to be a starter alongside Quinyon Mitchell and Cooper DeJean in a revamped Eagles cornerback room, while the Raiders still have questions on who they are starting.
The Raiders carried five cornerbacks on their 53-man roster, and the only one who appears locked into a starting role is free agent reclamation project Eric Stokes. The rest of the room is either unproven (Darien Porter, Decamerion Richardson, Kyu Blu Kelly) or does not move the needle (Darnay Holmes). While Booker has shown promise as the Raiders aim to replace Christian Wilkins on their defensive line, a secondary full of holes has the AFC West licking their chops.
Which team won the trade is still very much in question, but the Raiders certainly could have used Bennett’s efforts for their own purposes.
