Raiders could end up being in a very similar situation compared to one that their AFC West rival is about to be in at training camp

This offseason has been an unusual one for the rookies drafted. The class should be very strong, with some exceptional players at every position. But that's not been the concern or drama.

There are 30 second-round picks from this draft class that have yet to sign their contract. Why is that an issue? Well, they were drafted in April, and training camp, for a lot of teams, starts this weekend, with rookies having to report earlier than other players. And training camp is mandatory.

I'm not sure we have ever seen something like what we could see across the NFL when training camp starts for everyone. There is a good chance we could see rookies across the NFL holdout. Yes, holdouts like veterans do when they need an extension or a new deal, only these are rookies and guys who have never played in the NFL.

These second-round rookies, specifically, and there are 30 of them, want more guaranteed money on their contracts. And, all of their agents are advising them to do that, and most of them are advising them to hold out. We have truly never seen something like this, and the Las Vegas Raiders could be affected by it, too.

Raiders could have rookie holdout during training camp

It all started with the Houston Texans when they gave their rookie wide receiver Jayden Higgins a nice deal that had a ton of guaranteed money. So, they set the precedent when they got their deal done with him early. Then, the Los Angeles Chargers' rookie wide receiver Tre Harris, who is expected to hold out.

So now, none of these teams want to be the first one to do it and give a rookie a guaranteed contract, because then that would show that rookies have power, and frankly, the teams don't like that.

The Raiders could have a similar situation with wide receiver Jack Bech, who hasn't signed his contract yet. And, while there haven't been any reports of that happening yet, that doesn't mean it won't. The Raiders could be without their second-round wide receiver during training camp.
