Raiders fire HC Pete Carroll after one season

Owner Mark Davis confirmed the move, which comes after a campaign that began with hope but quickly fell apart. After a Week 1 victory over the Patriots, Las Vegas lost 14 of its final 16 games, ultimately earning the No. 1 overall pick in the 2026 NFL Draft.

Davis also revealed that minority owner Tom Brady will take on a larger role with the team and play a key part in the search for Carroll’s successor.

“We appreciate and wish Pete and his family the best,” Davis said. “Moving forward, general manager John Spytek will lead all football operations in close collaboration with Tom Brady, including the search for the club's next head coach. Together they will guide football decisions with a shared focus on leadership, culture, and alignment with the organization’s long-term vision and goals.”

The 2025 Raiders struggled across the board. Offense, defense, and special teams all underperformed, prompting Carroll to fire special teams coordinator Tom McMahon on Nov. 7 and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly on Nov. 24. Even after those changes, Las Vegas lost five more games before closing the season with a 14-12 win over the Chiefs, finally snapping a 10-game losing streak.

Carroll, 74, departs after just one year in Las Vegas, leaving the Raiders to regroup and chart a new course heading into the offseason.
