Raiders Make Decision on Impending Free Agent WR

Owner Mark Davis made major changes to the organization this offseason when he hired Pete Carroll and John Spytek as the next head coach and general manager of the Las Vegas Raiders. The roster is expected to look far different next year, in large part due to the team having 26 players set to become free agents this offseason.

The team has already begun roster reconstruction according to ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, who said on Monday that the team is not tendering wide receiver D.J. Turner. He was supposed to be a restricted free agent this offseason, but will now become an unrestricted free agent at the beginning of the league year.

Turner had his moments in the preseason for the Raiders but ended up with just 16 catches for 158 yards and a touchdown in 2024. He also got injured in Week 13 against the Kansas City Chiefs, so he missed the final five games of the season with a knee injury.

Las Vegas is open to him returning to the franchise, according to Fowler, but not at the price that the tender would have paid him. Turner played for the Raiders' new wide receivers coach, Chris Beatty, at the University of Pittsburgh in 2020, so if Turner's asking price is low enough and he wants to remain in Vegas, then a reunion could make sense for both sides.
