The Las Vegas Raiders’ quarterback room just got a little lighter.
On Monday, the Raiders decided to put quarterback Carter Bradley on waivers.
Bradley had been with the Raiders since being signed as an undrafted free agent in 2024 out of the University of South Alabama. Most of his time with the Raiders has been on the practice squad, but he was called up to the active roster at times last season due to injuries. However, he has yet to play a snap in a NFL regular season game.
The decision to waive Bradley comes with the Raiders remodeling their quarterback room in the wake of new head coach Pete Carroll and general manager John Spytek.
Out of all of the quarterbacks on last season’s Raiders roster, the only one remaining is 2023 fourth-round pick and spot starter Aidan O’Connell. The Raiders traded for Geno Smith to be their starting quarterback in March, and the team selected North Dakota State product Cam Miller in the sixth round of April’s draft. While the team did convert Montana State quarterback and fellow sixth-round pick Tommy Mellott to wide receiver, they also signed UNLV quarterback Hajj-Malik Williams as an undrafted free agent.
With all of those moves, Bradley would have had to fight to retain even his practice squad spot, but it appears the new regime had other plans.
It is expected that Bradley should latch on elsewhere, however. His father Gus Bradley is currently an assistant head coach on defense with the San Francisco 49ers, so a move there would not be too surprising.
Bradley’s departure is just another sign that the Raiders are taking the quarterback position seriously, as evidenced by the turnover under center.
