Raiders' Nevin Lawson, Rams' Tyrique McGhee suspended by NFL

Friday news-dump time ahead of the Easter holiday was rough for one member of the Las Vegas Raiders' secondary and a Los Angeles Rams defensive back.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero (h/t Michael Baca) reports that Raiders cornerback Nevin Lawson is suspended for the first two games of the 2021 season. Per Josh Alper of Pro Football Talk, Lawson was popped for a violation of the NFL's performance-enhancing drug policy. The 29-year-old received a four-game ban for a similar reason in August 2019.

Lawson started nine games for the Raiders last season and recorded 61 total tackles, a sack, two forced fumbles, a fumble recovery and four pass breakups. In March, he re-signed with the team on a one-year deal that Las Vegas theoretically could look to void.

Meanwhile, The Athletic's Jourdan Rodrigue tweeted that Rams defensive back Tyrique McGhee has earned a five-game suspension for PEDs. The practice squad player who has never appeared in an NFL game earned a two-game ban for a similar offense in late November, as noted by PFT's Charean Williams. Logic suggests the Rams will look to move on from McGhee sooner rather than later.
