Raiders OC Greg Olson tests positive for COVID-19, out for Chargers game

The Las Vegas Raiders entered Thursday's prime-time game versus the Los Angeles Chargers without a key figure.

As Nick Shook of the league's official website noted, Las Vegas offensive coordinator Greg Olson tested positive for COVID-19 ahead of Thursday's contest and won't be permitted to attend. NFL Network's Ian Rapoport added that remaining Raiders staff members will handle Olson's job versus the Chargers.

Head coach Jon Gruden will have a new-look sideline for the evening matchup, as Rod Marinelli will make his debut as Raiders defensive coordinator. Las Vegas parted ways with former coordinator Paul Guenther following a 44-27 loss to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday that dropped the Raiders to 7-6 overall.

That result kept the Raiders behind the Miami Dolphins and Baltimore Ravens in pursuit of the AFC's final playoff spot. Las Vegas ends the campaign with a game against Miami in Week 16 and then a contest versus the Denver Broncos on Jan. 3.

According to ESPN stats, Raiders quarterback Derek Carr began Thursday eighth in total QBR (72.8) and ninth in passer rating (102.1). The 29-year-old has thrown for 3,343 yards with 24 touchdowns and seven interceptions.
