Raiders WR Henry Ruggs III on reserve/COVID-19 list, out for Chargers game

One of the heroes for the Las Vegas Raiders in their improbable comeback victory over the winless New York Jets on Dec. 6 won't be available for Thursday's game against the Los Angeles Chargers.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero (h/t Grant Gordon) reported on Tuesday that Raiders rookie wide receiver Henry Ruggs III has been added to the reserve/COVID-19 list and won't be cleared by the start of Thursday's prime-time matchup.

It's not known if Ruggs tested positive for the coronavirus or has been listed as a close contact. Nevertheless, the earliest the 21-year-old can return to the lineup will be for the Week 16 showdown with the Miami Dolphins on Dec. 26.

The speedster selected 12th overall in the 2020 NFL Draft has recorded 23 catches for 414 yards and two touchdowns in his debut season. His top highlight, to date, came when he scored a game-winning 46-yard TD at the Jets with only five seconds left on the clock:

The Raiders fell to the Indianapolis Colts last Sunday and dropped to 7-6 on the campaign and ninth in the AFC playoff picture, a game behind Miami and the Baltimore Ravens in the pursuit of the conference's final postseason berth.
