Raiders owner Mark Davis puts support beyond HC Josh McDaniels

QB Derek Carr's tears following Sunday's loss to the Colts seem to summarize the dark state of the 2-7 Raiders. Owner Mark Davis, however, believes first-year coach Josh McDaniels is doing a "fantastic job," the Las Vegas Review-Journal reported.

Per the Las Vegas Review-Journal, Davis said, "I like Josh. I think he’s doing a fantastic job. That’s why I hired him. We did an exhaustive search and found the person we believe is going to bring the Raiders to greatness."

The Raiders, a playoff team last season, look lost under McDaniels. Before November is even half over, Las Vegas has only a one percent chance to make the playoffs, per the New York Times' playoff simulator.

Despite the Raiders' poor record, Davis hasn't ratcheted up the pressure on McDaniels, who will reportedly return next season, per The Athletic.

McDaniels also struggled mightily as a head coach in Denver in 2009-10, going 11-17

Las Vegas, which went 10-7 last season, traded for All-Pro wideout Davante Adams from Green Bay to contend for a Super Bowl. This team will be lucky to finish near .500.

Davis won't admit it, but this team is a massive failure. On Sunday, the Raiders play the Broncos (3-6), another team trending downward.
