The Las Vegas Raiders have acquired wide receiver Davante Adams in trade with the Green Bay Packers on Thursday.

The Las Vegas Raiders have acquired wide receiver Davante Adams in trade with the Green Bay Packers in exchange for a first and second-round pick in this year’s NFL Draft. The team didn’t waste any time on a contract extension either, inking Adams to a five-year, $141.25 million deal.

Adams is coming off back-to-back All-Pro seasons (and franchise tag designations) with the Packers and now joined former college teammate Derek Carr in Las Vegas under the new Josh McDaniels regime.

The Raiders have been desperate to restock their talent pool, particularly at the wide receiver position. Earlier in free agency, they added Chandler Jones to pair up with Maxx Crosby but, the AFC West arms race made upgrading the offense that much more important. Adding Adams, who has 238 receptions, 2,927 yards, and 29 touchdowns in his last 30 games, most definitely accomplishes that.

As reports have said, the Packers were willing to match the contract that Adams will sign with the Raiders, however, he ultimately had no interest in returning to Green Bay. Despite quarterback Aaron Rodgers’ commitment to stay in Green Bay this season and potentially longer.

Adams will now team up with the aforementioned Carr as well as running back Josh Jacobs, wide receiver Hunter Renfrow, and tight end Darren Waller in a suddenly talented offense. A far cry from where they ended the 2021 season.
