Maxx Crosby turned a lot of heads recently when he revealed that he wanted Aaron Rodgers to be the next Las Vegas Raiders quarterback. The New York Jets are going to release the former MVP and he'll be a free agent.
However, he's 41 and coming off a down season. He's also just a year removed from a torn Achilles injury. Rodgers would be an upgrade over the Aidan O'Connell and Gardner Minshew quarterback room from last season so it's easy to understand why Crosby might want him, but it doesn't seem like the Raiders feel the same way about the future Hall of Famer.
According to The Athletic's Dianna Russini, the Raiders aren't interested in Rodgers and are looking at other quarterback options.
"I can't think of a place for him that makes sense. Do you think Vegas should go after him? I don't sense that they are," Russini said on the Tuesday episode of the "Scoop City" podcast. "Vegas has interest in Russell Wilson, I'm hearing some Sam Darnold."
The Raiders could always change their mind but there hasn't been any indication that they'll pursue Rodgers. He may also prefer to go to a team that might be closer to contending for a playoff spot like the Pittsburgh Steelers. With a new regime in charge in Las Vegas, it's unlikely that Crosby's endorsement of Rodgers will play much of a factor.
