Raiders' Results out of the Bye Week in Recent Years
USA TODAY Sports

The Las Vegas Raiders are on their bye week; their latest bye week has come in the Super Bowl era.

This week is critical for the Silver and Black, as the club is looking to get some much-needed rest after 12 weeks and regroup for one last attempt at a playoff push.

The bye week has helped and limited the Raiders in recent years.

2022-23

The Raiders started last season 1-4 going into their bye week.

Las Vegas' Week 5 Monday Night Football loss to the Kansas City Chiefs nearly went its way and would have been a huge turning point for the team, as it would have gone into its Week 6 bye week riding two straight wins, both against division rivals.

But the Raiders would blow a first-half 17-0 lead and ultimately fall to Kansas City by just a point. To make matters worse, they had a whole bye week to think about it and figure out how they would bounce back.

But they could do just that as they defeated the Houston Texans at Allegiant Stadium in their most significant win margin of the season, 38-20. It was also their second-highest-scoring performance of the year (highest in regulation).

The win didn't create much momentum for Las Vegas, though, as it went on the following week to get shut out by the New Orleans Saints.

The Raiders finished the season 6-11.

2021-22

In 2021, the bye week didn't give the Raiders the same benefit it did last season.

Heading into its Week 8 bye, Las Vegas had started the season 5-2, its best start since the 2016 season. The team was riding a two-game win streak after dropping its two prior.

But out of the break, the Raiders fell to the New York Giants on the road, a game in which it led 13-10, at halftime. A Giants pick-six early in the third quarter would shift the momentum, New York outscored Las Vegas, 13-3, in the second half.

The Raiders went on to lose their next two games as well, which sent them to a .500 record for the first time that season.

Las Vegas, of course, managed to turn things around that year and make the postseason with a 10-7 record.

2020-21

As opposed to last season, the Raiders went into the 2020-21 bye riding the momentum of a win against Kansas City at Arrowhead Stadium. They were 3-2 going into the break, but ahead of them was a meeting with the eventual Super Bowl champions, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

The Buccaneers blew out the Raiders, 45-20, at Allegiant.

Las Vegas did go on to win its next three games but would ultimately miss out on the playoffs with an 8-8 finish.

The Silver and Black will return home to Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas to take on the Minnesota Vikings on Sunday, December 10, at 4:05 p.m. EST/1:05 p.m. PST.
