Raiders Snag Future Top Wide Receiver in Mock Draft

One thing is clear about the Raiders’ 2026 offense even after just one game. The wide receiver room is in need of an upgrade.

Athlon Sports’ Luke Easterling put together a 2027 mock draft and solved that problem for the Raiders. With the sixth pick, Las Vegas selected Cam Coleman from Texas.

“Brock Bowers is worthy of being the top pass-catcher in this offense, but the injury concerns are starting to become a bigger deal, and the Raiders can’t leave Fernando Mendoza without an elite target to grow with into the future. Coleman is a high-flying playmaker with the speed and athleticism to make a big splash at the next level, and he’d immediately be the most talented receiver on this roster,” Easterling wrote.

Wide Receiver Problems

The Raiders’ best wide receiver is Tre Tucker. He had two catches for 27 yards in the season opening win over the Dolphins.

Tucker has never had a 700-yard season in the NFL. But none of the other wideouts on the roster have topped that mark either. Between Jalen Nailor, Jack Bech and a cast of depth pieces, it is one of the worst wide receiver rooms in the NFL.

Adding someone like Coleman could make an immediate impact. Coleman could push everyone else down the pecking order while also contributing immediately.

Bowers’ Injury Concerns

Bowers has had knee problems in consecutive seasons. He suffered a PCL injury and a bone bruise in Week 1 of the 2025 season. He initially played through the injuries, but only played in 12 games last year.

Now he has missed the season opener of 2026 after undergoing a surgery to trim his meniscus. He hasn’t been ruled out for Week 2, but he has yet to practice since the surgery.

That is two injuries in 12 months for Bowers. Last season the Raiders foolishly rushed him back. This season they may be doing the same thing.

He is the most important player on the offense, but having another legitimate weapon in the passing game would be nice whether Bowers plays or not.
