Like most teams around the NFL, injuries begin to mount as the conclusion of the regular season draws near.
Heading into Week 15 of the NFL season, the Las Vegas Raiders have eight players on the injury report . Fortunately, half of them were able to practice in full capacity on Saturday ahead of Monday night's game. On the other side, the Atlanta Falcons have a lengthy injury report, with 14 players listed this week.
Unfortunately for the Raiders, they will be without superstar defensive end Maxx Crosby for the foreseeable future. Already ruled out for Monday's game against Atlanta due to a nagging ankle injury, Crosby will now undergo arthroscopic surgery, effectively ending his 2024 season.
A Pro Bowler in each of the last three seasons, "Mad Maxx" started 12 games this year, recording 7.5 sacks, 17 tackles for loss, and 20 quarterback hits. Before the 2024 season, Crosby had played in all 17 games for three consecutive years and had been relatively injury-free throughout his six-year career.
Last weekend in the loss against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Crosby toughed it out but was rather quiet with a two-tackle stat line.
Moving forward, the Raiders will have to lean on a youth movement led by defensive ends Tyree Wilson and Matthew Butler. Replacing Crosby's production will be a tough task, as he's one of the league's top disruptors. With only four games remaining on the schedule, head coach Antonio Pierce has limited options to address the void.
