Raiders WR Davante Adams primed for huge Week 1 against Chargers

All-Pro wideout Davante Adams, who did not play in the preseason, could make a big splash in his Raiders debut against the favored Chargers. Los Angeles star cornerback J.C. Jackson, Adams' probable matchup, is not expected to play because of a right ankle injury, per the NFL Network's Taylor Bisciotti. Acquired via trade with Green Bay in March, Adams previewed his amazing receiver abilities during training camp.

Adams, who signed a five-year, $140 million deal with the Raiders, has made five Pro Bowls and two All-Pro teams. As a Packer for eight seasons, he racked up a 669 catches, 73 touchdown catches and 8,121 yards receiving.

Adams, along with receiver Hunter Renfrow and tight end Darren Waller, should produce headaches all season for rival defensive coordinators.

Adams' abilities were touted in a recent poll by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler of players, executives and coaches.

"Still the best. Big, athletic, runs all the routes, competitive. His spatial awareness and route feel are the best," wrote Fowler.

Adams is eager to be reunited on the field in a live game with his Fresno State college teammate, QB Derek Carr.

"The coolest part wasn’t the football part," he told ESPN’s Tim Keown about the reunion. "It was that I got my friend back. I think that’s the coolest part."
