There will be no unnecessary distractions during Rams training camp, as 2025 second-round draft pick tight end Terrance Ferguson has signed his rookie contract.

The deal is for four years worth $9,713,466, including $8,046,753 guaranteed.

The entire Rams' 2025 draft class is now signed, allowing them to concentrate squarely on football. Los Angeles reports to camp on July 22 at Loyola Marymount. Ferguson got caught up in the dilemma that second-round picks around the league have faced — guaranteed money.

The Houston Texans and Cleveland Brown unexpectedly gave their second-round picks fully guaranteed contracts. Other teams have not been willing to follow suit. However, the ball has gotten rolling this past week with multiple second-rounders signing. In some instances the players have caved, and other times the teams have.

As far as the Rams and Ferguson go, it looks like Ferguson got the better end of the deal. His contract wasn't fully guaranteed, but it came pretty close. It's really not that big of a deal at the end of the day since rookie contracts are cheap and players aren't typically cut before their deal is up.

It's a relief that Ferguson won't miss valuable reps during camp. The 46th overall pick will compete with Tyler Higbee and Colby Parkinson for the starting tight end role. Ferguson is highly athletic, recording the second-highest athletic score among all TEs during the 2025 NFL Scouting Combine.

Ferguson was a productive pass catcher during his collegiate career at Oregon. He is also a solid route runner and brings yards after the catch potential to the table. However, he will need to improve his run blocking if he's going to win the starting role. Regardless, he should make positive impact as a rookie and give quarterback Matthew Stafford yet another reliable playmaker to throw to.
