Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford is dealing with a sprained index finger on his throwing hand coming off his club's 34-31 wild-card playoff win at the Carolina Panthers.
While speaking with reporters on Monday, Rams head coach Sean McVay insisted Stafford will be "good to go" for Los Angeles' divisional-round matchup at the Chicago Bears on Jan. 18. Chicago erased an 18-point deficit en route to earning a 31-27 win over the rival Green Bay Packers.
"You guys saw it kind of hit the helmet," McVay said about Stafford's finger, per ESPN's Sarah Barshop. "He's as tough as it gets, but he's feeling good. ...He had a sprain on the index finger, but he was able to push through it. He's as tough as it gets and will be good to go."
Stafford entered the playoffs as the betting favorite to win the Most Valuable Player Award. As Pro Football Talk's Myles Simmons noted, Stafford then started off hot against the Panthers before he hurt his finger.
In total, Stafford completed 24-of-42 passes for 304 yards with three touchdowns and one interception at Carolina's Bank of America Stadium. His final pass of the evening was caught by tight end Colby Parkinson for a go-ahead score with under 40 seconds remaining in regulation.

Stafford hinted in late December that he wants to continue playing beyond the Rams' final game of this season. That said, he and Los Angeles are essentially taking his status with the club on a year-by-year basis.
One would think the Rams wouldn't want to move on from the reigning MVP without having a successor on their roster, but the only real thing for sure about the situation as of the second Monday of January is that nothing's for sure past this coming weekend.
As of Monday afternoon, DraftKings Sportsbook had the Rams as 3.5-point road favorites for the game that will be held at Chicago's Soldier Field. Clearly, some NFL insiders expect that contest won't be the last that Stafford plays while rocking a Rams uniform.
