This offseason, there was a moment when it looked like the Los Angeles Rams were heading toward a rebuild. However, the team and Matthew Stafford agreed to a new deal to continue their partnership.
Now, the team heads into 2025 with the goal of competing in the NFC West and the NFC as a whole. That was the focus of their selection in a new A to Z Sports 2025 NFL mock draft as they added a weapon at wide receiver to pair with Puka Nacua.
"The board didn't fall right for the Rams to take defense here, but they can score a dynamic playmaker. Even with the Davante Adams signing the Rams' offense still needs more playmakers around Matthew Stafford to maximize the scheme and make a push for a Super Bowl. Golden would be a nice complement to Adams on the outside and let Puka Nacua move to the slot, a move that fits his skill set best."

I'm not sure there is a WR in this year's draft class who has seen his stock rise more this offseason than Matthew Golden. There are analysts posing the question of if he could be the first WR taken in this year's class (not including Travis Hunter). Before the College Football Playoffs, that was far from the consensus, with him finding himself predicted to hear his name called in the second or third round.
The speedy WR tested well this offseason, and if a team wants to get faster on offense, Golden will be a top option they consider. His skill set would be a fantastic complement to what the Rams already have with star WR Puka Nacua. And the team also already signed veteran Davante Adams, so if they went this route, they would be solidifying their starting WR core and still would have a solid depth option in Tutu Atwell, who could be a rotational player in 2025.
Texas WR Matthew Golden is such a fun watch. Outstanding late adjustment--tracking ability + high end hands all over his tape. Makes difficult catches look easy. pic.twitter.com/F980lVJ2tb
