Matthew Stafford and the No. 5 seed Los Angeles Rams kept their 2025 NFL season alive this past weekend, taking down Bryce Young and the No. 4 seed Carolina Panthers in the wild card round. Now, the Rams will look to secure a spot in the NFC Championship Game, facing Caleb Williams and the No. 2 seed Chicago Bears in the divisional round.
Stafford continued his MVP-caliber season in the opening playoff win. The former Detroit Lions quarterback completed 24-of-42 passes for 304 yards, three touchdowns and an interception, including the game-winning touchdown pass to tight end Colby Parkinson with 38 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter.
Entering the wild card matchup against the Panthers, Stafford had played in ten total playoff games dating back to the 2011 NFL season, including one Super Bowl win, six of which were on the road. And in five of those away games, Stafford had thrown for 300 or more yards.
With his latest 300-yard performance against the Panthers, Stafford has now recorded six road playoff games with at least 300 passing yards, the most in NFL history. Including home games, he has totaled seven such performances overall, which ranks fifth on the league’s all-time list. The record belongs to NFL great Tom Brady, with 19 such games, ten higher than the next best (Peyton Manning).
Not only that, but Stafford has also thrown for 300 or more yards in each of his last four road postseason games, dating back to the NFC divisional round of the 2021 season against Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, when he passed for 366 yards. That streak sets a new NFL record, surpassing the previous mark of three consecutive games held by Brady and New Orleans Saints legend Drew Brees.
