The Los Angeles Rams announced the re-signing of running back Ronnie Rivers to a one-year deal.

The 27-year-old appeared in 11 games last season, primarily contributing on special teams with 16 kick returns for 418 yards (26.1 per return). He also had nine carries for 46 yards as the third running back on the Rams’ depth chart.

Rivers originally signed with the Rams as an undrafted free agent out of Fresno State and has spent his entire career in L.A. thus far. In parts of four NFL seasons, he has rushed for 295 yards on 71 carries (4.1 yards per attempt) while also catching 15 passes for 85 yards across 45 career games.

With Rivers returning to the Rams, they are set to have the same running back room next season. Kyren Williams and Blake Corum will continue getting the majority of reps, with Rivers and Jarquez Hunter backing them up.

Rivers joins Kam Curl, Tyler Higbee Keir Thomas and Larrell Murchison as players who have re-signed with L.A. this offseason.

Rams likely won’t sign Puka Nacua to contract extension until later this summer

The NFL offseason has slowed down a bit since the start of the free agency period, but major news came out earlier this week with the Seattle Seahawks reportedly signing star wide receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba to a four-year, $168.6 million contract extension.

The deal makes the two-time Pro Bowler the highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history with an average salary of $42.15 million per season.

That is notable for Rams wide receiver Puka Nacua, who is also in line to sign a lucrative contract extension this offseason.

While one should eventually come to fruition, L.A. is not expected to get a deal done with Nacua until later this summer.

Rams general manager Les Snead previously indicated that the Rams would focus on free agency and the 2026 NFL Draft before turning their attention to contract extensions for eligible players.

When the dust settles after that, the Rams will likely make Nacua the new highest-paid wide receiver in NFL history as he has statistically outperformed Smith-Njigba in several categories since entering the league in 2023.
