Rams’ Right Tackle Situation in Flux as Rob Havenstein’s Status Now Uncertain

The Los Angeles Rams’ offensive line could look different once again this weekend. According to Nate Atkins of The Athletic, “No Rob Havenstein at today’s open portion of Rams practice. Looks like the starting right tackle is in danger of missing a second straight game.”

Head coach Sean McVay later confirmed that both Havenstein (ankle) and tight end Tyler Higbee (hip) are “making good progress,” but the team will wait until Friday for a final update on their availability against the Baltimore Ravens. Both players sat out last week’s loss to San Francisco.

In Havenstein’s absence, Warren McClendon Jr. once again handled the right tackle duties — and impressed. The former Georgia standout, who entered the league as a depth piece, has steadily developed into a potential long-term answer on the Rams’ line.

“When tackle Warren McClendon entered the NFL Draft, I didn’t think much of him,” one analyst admitted. “After watching him up close, I believe he is the rightful heir to Rob Havenstein’s right tackle job when Havenstein is ready to retire.”

LaFleur’s Confidence in McClendon

Offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur echoed that sentiment when discussing McClendon’s growth. “I’m really pleased with where he is at going into his third year,” LaFleur said. “He’s another guy that just—his growth, his intentionality to working on his craft and getting better. You can see it in his face that he knows he belongs.”

McClendon’s composure and technique have stood out, particularly when filling in on his natural right side. While Havenstein remains the veteran anchor of this unit, McClendon’s emergence provides both short-term stability and long-term optimism for a Rams offensive line that continues to evolve.

As the Rams prepare for Baltimore, all eyes will be on Havenstein’s health — and the young tackle quietly making the most of every opportunity in Woodland Hills.
