More than two months after Randy Shaver teased his "new job," he's finally revealed what it is.
"I found my next great adventure!" Shaver said Tuesday, announcing that he'll be participating in "live prep football coverage" for the Minnesota Star Tribune.
Shaver, 65, signed off KARE 11 for the last time in June 2024, saying then that he was "done working nights" and was excited to focus on his family. It ended his 43-year career as a news/sports anchor, but he never really stopped working.
He's been hosting the "Shaver Prep Football Podcast" via the Talk North network for the past year, and he continues to host the show to this day.

Strib Varsity launched this week, with Shaver's role teased as he did the voiceover for the television commercials that aired on FOX 9 during Saturday's Minnesota Vikings preseason game against the Houston Texas.
What exactly is the "live" coverage Shaver will be doing? He'll be hosting "Strib Varsity Live with Randy Shaver" on game days at 9:30 p.m., with the debut show set to stream online on Thursday, Aug. 28.
Strib Varsity's written coverage will feature former WDIO-TV (Duluth) sports director Alicia Tipcke and longtime Star Tribune sports reporters Marcus Fuller and Joe Christensen, along with a quartet of editors.
Shaver hosted the Prep Sports Extra on KARE 11 for four decades, and his work with high school football helped earn him an induction into the Minnesota Football Coaches Association Hall of Fame in the early 2000s.
