Ranking Every Minnesota Vikings Player: Nos. 65-61 highlighted by impressive UDFAs at quarterback and running backs who can all make the roster

The Minnesota Vikings are going to be in a really interesting spot in training camp. There are some really intriguing battles to be had for roster spots, and the talent is higher this year than in previous years.

The focus is going to be on J.J. McCarthy, but the depth on the roster is where teams win Super Bowls. This year, the Vikings have depth at interesting places and it's coming to light with our rankings as we get closer to the top 53 players.

65. RB Zavier Scott

Running back is an interesting position for the Vikings and Scott has a real opportunity to make an impact this year. Ty Chandler doesn't have a stranglehold on the RB3 job, as he's yet to take a step forward when playing on offense. The Vikings added Scott to the practice squad at the end of the 2024 season. It will be the first time that Scott will get extensive time on the fied during a game, which could be very impactful.

64. QB Max Brosmer

When you look at the quarterback position for the Vikings, McCarthy is at the top of the list with Sam Howell and Brett Rypien behind them. What's really interesting is the connection that head coach Kevin O'Connell has with the Minnesota Golden Gophers program and the skill set to thrive in this offense. He specializes at throwing the ball over the middle of the field with anticipation, something that is incredibly important to how O'Connell wants to operate. Being QB4 isn't always easy to get chance to shine in throwing the football, but taking advantage of those opportunities could end with Brosmer winning the QB3 job.

63. RB Tre Stewart

Like Scott, Stewart has a chance to earn that job. I'm very bullish on Stewart being a solid player on the roster. He transferred to Jacksonville State after spending his career at D-II Limestone College. What he did was rush for 1,638 yards and 25 touchdowns during his only season at the FBS level. He will need to show that he can be a positive with pass blocking and on special teams to unseat Chandler, but there is a path to making the roster, especially if Stewart gets a chance to return kicks.

62. iOL Michael Jurgens

Depth on the offensive line is one of the more intriguing battles this training camp. During the 2024 NFL Draft, general manager Kwesi Adofo-Mensah was caught on camera telling Jurgens that he has starter potential. That didn't show up at all during last year in the preseason. He will have to show up in a big way this year to secure his spot on the roster.

61. OG Joe Huber

Having a current UDFA ahead of a draft pick from last year feels a little weird, but that's where we are. Huber transferred to Wisconsin from Cincinnati and played well. He also showed some versatility having played some at both left guard and center, along with his normal spot at right guard. A really good training camp could make things interesting, especially with the backup center spot up for grabs.
