Ranking every Minnesota Vikings player: One SEC school is littered throughout Nos. 91-86
Gary Cosby Jr.-Imagn

The Minnesota Vikings are just days away from reporting to training camp, and the excitement to see this team take the field again is growing more and more. Everyone wants to see quarterback J.J. McCarthy going into the season, but it's going to be the rest of the roster where training camp is going to be the most exciting.

Ahead of training camp, I took on the tall task of ranking all 91 players on the roster. This group is 91-86, and it includes three UDFAs from the same school.

91. P Oscar Chapman

The Vikings don't have a strong punter going into the season with Ryan Wright not being a consistent player at the position. However, Chapman hasn't shown himself to be a consistent player at the position, and his Aussie style hinders the hangtime, which is going to be a big issue. Chapman likely makes the practice squad as the International Pathway Player, but the 53-man roster is a major longshot.

90. S Mishael Powell

After spending his first five seasons at Washington, Powell transferred to the other coast at Miami (FL) and started all 13 games. He enters a very deep position group at safety with his biggest competition being 2023 fourth-round pick Jay Ward. Despite being productive at the college level, Powell will likely struggle to make the practice squad, let alone the roster.

89. ILB Max Tooley

Tooley was originally a UDFA out of BYU who signed with the Houston Texans. He is also 27 years old, which isn't abnormal for a player from BYU. He isn't the best athlete overall with a Relative Athletic Score of 6.2 and that could be a huge factor in him making the team. Inside linebacker is a spot that has depth players likely fighting for practice squad spots versus a 53-man roster spot, and Tooley's lack of high-upside has him lower.

88. EDGE Chaz Chambliss

One thing that may have others ranking Chambliss higher is that he played at Georgia. He was relatively productive as an edge rusher, but this isn't the SEC. Chambliss doesn't have the right kind of profile to make a major impact in the NFL, and I fully expect him to be one of the first cuts in a deep edge room.

87. ILB Austin Keys

Keys is one of the four players who signed out of Auburn, including two at inside linebacker. He's a bigger player at 247 lbs with okay speed and athleticism with a 4.64 40-yard dash and a 1.64 10-yard split. He's an interesting player with that kind of size, as modern-day linebackers often don't have that. However, Keys doesn't project highly going into the NFL with his instincts.

86. ILB Dorian Mausi

The other linebacker from Auburn is Mausi who spent one season with the Tigers after playing at Duke for four seasons. He was a solid player for the Tigers in 2024, but Mausi will have some of the same issues in making the roster that Keys will.
