The Minnesota Vikings are inching closer and closer to training camp, as the quarterbacks and rookies are set to report on Sunday, July 20th. Everyone is going to want to see J.J. McCarthy, but the race for Mr. Mankato is arguably the biggest storyline going into training camp.
We are now getting closer to seeing players who will end up in the discussion for Mr. Mankato, and this batch of players
Wide receiver is the hardest room to crack for the Vikings, but Bolden has another path to the roster: punt returner. He returned a punt for a touchdown against Arizona State in the College Football Playoff. There is one problem: I don't think it's going to translate.
Bolden is historically small at 5'8 and 160 lbs and doesn't pair it with elite speed or quickness. In fact, his Relative Athletic Score is near the 25th percentile. To make the team, Bolden will have to be next level as a returner, and I see that being a very difficult task.

Lee was a late addition to the Vikings, having signed after mandatory minicamp had concluded. He brings a wealth of experience and versatility across the line, having played at tackle, guard, and center during his time at South Carolina. The Kansas City Chiefs and Chicago Bears both brought in Lee for their rookie minicamps, but he didn't make the roster. Lee's versatility could get him more opportunities, but his issues with power and in protection will be tough to overcome.
When Lewis transferred from Georgia State to Auburn for the 2024 season, he was hoping to make a major statement in his final year of eligibility. Ultimately, that didn't happen, with just 16 receptions for 155 yards. However, he could see a lot of struggles in training camp due to his 180 lb frame, as he can get pushed around. Plus, there isn't a true speed threat, which isn't great for a smaller player.
Price palyed for Texas Tech for four seasons before he finished his college career at Indiana. He was a solid contributor for the Hoosiers with 38 receptions for 466 yards and three touchdowns opposite of Elijah Surratt. Where Price will see struggles is with getting separtion. He doesn't have elite speed/explosiveness or have good quickness, and that's not great for a 5'8 and 178 lb slot receiver.

This is going to feel very familiar to Vikings fans: an undersized center from NC State. Feels like the next Garrett Bradbury right? Well, he has some of the same issues, as he can get bullied pretty easily. He does have a relatively easy path to the roster, as Correll just needs to beat out Michael Jurgens. However, his struggles against power are the biggest reason why he ranks this low on the list.
