The Green Bay Packers will begin preparing for the 2026 NFL season with rookie camp getting under way shortly. With the draft completed, the core of the roster has been established although changes will continue throughout the offseason. Here is a look at the Packers three position groups with the most questions after the 2026 NFL Draft. Keep in mind these are not necessarily the weakest positions, but the ones with the most uncertainty as of right now.
The team has an established starter in Josh Jacobs and a reliable backup in Chris Brooks and then a lot of question marks.
Jacobs struggled through a series of nagging injuries last season and saw his rushing total drop by 400 yards over the previous campaign. The Packers need him to come back healthy and to regain his previous form. Better blocking by the offensive line would be helpful.
Brooks has served as the team’s third running back over the last two seasons. He’s a serviceable and reliable runner and receiver. His biggest strength remains as a blocker. Brooks does an excellent job protecting the quarterback and picking up blitzes and stunts.
MarShawn Lloyd has only played one regular season game in two seasons with the team. He has been sidelined with an assortment of nagging injuries which are now threatening his career. The Packers would love to see some of the game breaking potential that led them to select Lloyd in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft, but they cannot count on him to stay healthy.
Pierre Strong, Damien Martinez and undrafted free agent Jaden Nixon are also battling for a roster spot. If anything happened to Jacobs, the team’s running game would be in the hands of unproven players.
The Packers did add a defensive tackle in the third round of the draft when they traded up to grab Chris McClellan, but they did not add a true nose tackle. The only nose tackle on the roster is second-year man Nazir Stackhouse. The undrafted free agent out of Georgia struggled through an uneven rookie year in limited defensive snaps.
While nose tackles usually only play about 25-30 percent of defensive snaps, they are still an important part of the defense when it comes to stopping the run. Winning in the trenches remains a key to winning football games and the Packers don’t have a clear but player at this position to fill this role.
Don’t be surprised if GM Brian Gutekunst adds another nose tackle before the season starts, even after initial cutdowns are made in late August.
Ranking the Packers Three Position Groups with the Most Questions after the 2026 NFL Draft, Number One: Interior Offensive Line
The starters are set but the depth here is full of questions. Sean Rhyan returns as the center with Aaron Banks at left guard and Anthony Belton at right guard. Banks needs to stay healthier than last season and hopefully, more effective. The Packers hope Belton will continue to make progress as he makes the transition from college tackle to NFL guard which began in the second half of the 2025.
The Packers did select Jager Burton in the fifth round of the draft and that does add some competition at center and guard, but was that enough? If any of the three starters along the interior went down, there is precious little proven depth behind them.
Jacob Monk, Travis Glover, and Donovan Jennings have the most experience among the available players on the roster. None has proven they would be ready to play significant snaps if they needed to.
This position has the biggest question marks at this point right after the draft.
