Ravens Announce Lamar Jackson News Before Texans Game

Lamar Jackson, the Baltimore Ravens' star quarterback, has been one of the best players in the NFL since he became a full-time starter. Jackson has made four Pro Bowls, been a three-time First Team All-Pro selection and has won two NFL MVP awards.

In his eight-year career thus far, he has thrown for 20,928 yards and 176 touchdowns, while rushing for 6,339 yards and 34 more scores on the ground.

Jackson was drafted by the Ravens with the 32nd overall pick in the 2018 NFL Draft after spending three years with the Louisville Cardinals, winning the Heisman Trophy in the 2016 season.

Although Jackson's numbers speak for themselves, the Ravens have not looked great through the first four weeks of the 2025 season. They are 1-3 and are coming off a disappointing 37-20 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs on Sunday.

Not only did the loss on Sunday sting, but Jackson went out with an injury in the game as well. He suffered a strained hamstring in the game that has kept him from practicing all week.

Now, while the Ravens can't afford to lose many more games going forward, they announced some concerning news on Friday.

"Ravens have ruled out QB Lamar Jackson, who strained his hamstring during Sunday’s loss at Kansas City and didn’t practice this week. Ravens host the Rams next Sunday, before their bye week, so Jackson could get two weeks of recovery for missing one more game," wrote ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Through four games this season, Jackson has thrown for 869 yards and 10 touchdowns with one interception, while rushing for 166 yards and one score on the ground.

Along with Jackson, the Ravens also ruled out cornerbacks Chidobe Awuzie and Marlon Humphrey, fullback Patrick Ricard and linebacker Roquan Smith for Sunday's matchup against the Houston Texans in their official injury report.

These are all big blows for a Ravens team that is looking for a spark after their disappointing start. Baltimore will take on the Texans on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET on CBS.
