Ravens avoid a serious situation with Zay Flowers

The Baltimore Ravens and their fans can let out a big collective sigh of relief over the status of wide receiver Zay Flowers.

Flowers was unable to finish Sunday’s game against the Indianapolis Colts at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind., after suffering a hamstring injury. As one of quarterback Lamar Jackson’s chief downfield weapons, seeing Flowers leave the game and not return was a clear cause of concern among Baltimore supporters.

But NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport was told by his sources that Flowers’ injury was anything but serious.

“Ravens WR Zay Flowers, who left Sunday’s win over the Colts early, suffered a hamstring injury that is not considered serious, sources say,” Rapoport wrote in a post on X. “He’ll have an MRI, but if it was a playoff game, he likely would’ve returned. Flowers is considered day-to-day heading into testing.”

It appears the Ravens simply took precautionary measures with Flowers during the game, and there should be no real concern about his chances of playing in Week 2.

Despite his shortened outing, Flowers led all players in the game with 150 receiving yards with a touchdown on five receptions and six targets, as the Ravens demolished the Colts, 41-23.

For now, Flowers can be considered questionable for Baltimore’s Week 2 date with the New Orleans Saints at M&T Bank Stadium in Baltimore, Md.
