Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver A.J. Brown wants a trade, and the wide receiver has not exactly been subtle with his requests. The former second-round pick outwardly voiced his frustration with the organization throughout the 2025 season, and the Eagles now have the financial capability to trade him. If the team waits until after June 1st to send him to a new team, they’ll clear $7.04 million in cap space while also freeing up guaranteed money in the 2027 and 2028 seasons that could be used to re-sign their young core.
While A.J. Brown is on the older side, he should have a decent trade market, and Bleacher Report’s Moe Moton thinks the Ravens should make a move for his services. In a recent article, the NFL analyst made his case for trading a second-round pick and wide recevier Rashod Bateman for the talented Super Bowl champion.
“Brown would reunite with his former Tennessee Titans teammate, Derrick Henry, and add to the team’s physical identity,” Moton writes. “The 6’1″, 226-pound outside receiver can be a complement to [Zay] Flowers, who’s a shifty 5’9” wideout who lines up on the boundary and in the slot.
The Ravens are an obvious choice for A.J. Brown, as the team desperately needs another wide receiver. Zay Flowers is a good player, but Rashod Bateman did not live up to his contract last year. First-year head coach Jesse Minter inherited an incredible roster, but he needs to add a missing piece to bring this team to its full potential.
For what it’s worth, Ravens running back Derrick Henry has been pushing for an A.J. Brown trade. Henry and Brown spent time together with the Tennessee Titans and helped the team make it to the AFC Championship Game in 2019 with quarterback Ryan Tannehill and head coach Mike Vrabel. While Henry has no direct say in personnel moves, it’s encouraging to see that he wants to reunite with the talented wideout.
Moton believes the Eagles would accept a second-round pick and Rashod Bateman in an A.J. Brown trade, but how realistic is this? After all, Brown is a three-time Pro Bowler coming off four consecutive 1,000-yard seasons.
The Eagles may try to get a first-round pick for Brown’s services, but it’s hard to imagine any team paying that kind of price. While the Mississippi product is still a good player and a valuable weapon, he’s entering his age-29 season and probably only has a handful of good seasons left in his tank. He hasn’t hit 1,100 yards since 2023 and doesn’t quite look like the unstoppable force of nature he used to be.
Rashod Bateman, meanwhile, is a nice low-risk, medium-upside throw-in that General Manager Howie Roseman would probably like. While Bateman has never put it all together in Baltimore, he shows moments of greatness on tape and could reach his ceiling in a new environment. DeVonta Smith will be the unquestioned WR1 with Brown gone, but Bateman could fight for the WR2 position.
