We are at the time of the preseason when injuries right now can be devastating, especially for Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson.
With the Ravens set to face the Buffalo Bills to open their season, the last thing John Harbaugh wants is to have No. 8 sidelined. And in practice today, Jackson left 40 minutes early and was seen flexing his hand/wrist.
Ravens reporter Jeff Zrebiec posted on X:
"Ravens QB Lamar Jackson left practice about 40 mins early with S&C coach Scott Elliott next to him and team doctors trailing. Jackson got knocked down making a throw. He stayed i n for a few plays but appeared to be flexing his hand/wrist."
So naturally, that sent an almighty scare through the organization and fan base with Jackson appearing to hurt his hand.
But then came ESPN's Jamison Hensley, who said that Jackson, after getting his foot stepped on, is "fine" so that should ease the nerves of Ravens fans everywhere.
So, it was quite the whirlwind of emotions for the organization and fanbase, but thankfully, Jackson is fine, and preparations can continue for Week 1.
It is a reminder of how quickly things can change in football, and considering how close we are to the start of the season, we get the sense teams want to keep their best players in bubble wrap until the "real" stuff starts.
Baltimore got lucky this time, but next? Who knows, but thankfully it is all systems go for the Ravens and Jackson is set to be good for Week 1.
