Ravens linebacker gives major props to Chargers QB Justin Herbert ahead of Week 12 clash
Kirby Lee-USA TODAY Sports

The Baltimore Ravens will be in for quite a test in their upcoming road matchup against the Los Angeles Chargers.

Baltimore’s defense will be faced with the task of having to contain Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert. The fourth-year passer has led a Chargers offense that currently ranks eighth in the NFL in points per game with a 25.9 average.

On Herbert’s part, he has recorded 19 touchdown passes and a 99.5 passer rating over 10 games played this season.

Ravens outside linebacker Odafe Oweh is well aware that his team’s defense will have a pivotal challenge coming up against Herbert and company.

"Just an elusive guy," Odafe said during a press conference ahead of Week 12. "He's good on his feet, very accurate as well. He can throw the ball really hard. He's a talented QB, but I feel like if we stay in our disguise, and we do what we have to do, don't allow him to pick out our defense, stay disciplined in our rush lanes and then tackle [and] finish plays, like I, myself, I feel like we'll be good."

The last time that the Ravens squared off with the Chargers, they ended up cruising to a convincing win. The Ravens picked up a 34-6 home victory over the Chargers in Week 6 of the 2021 season, and they held Herbert to a lowly 67.8 passer rating in the contest.

"We remember it," Oweh said. "We always remember those things playing with [Justin Herbert], because it is like war when we're out there anyways. At the end of the day, that was two years ago, so we're obviously different players. We expect that he's a different player.

"We're always just staying fierce and staying hungry, but we remember obviously the pass game."

The Ravens are looking to still hold the No. 1 seed in the AFC past Week 12.
